According to a report from China, Apple will buy M14 series OLED panels from Samsung Display for all iPhone 17 models.
There are reportedly five iPhone 17 models:
The M14 OLED panel from Samsung uses a combination of common layers, prime layers, and special light-emitting layer to offer top-notch color reproduction and high brightness levels.
Despite using Samsung's latest OLED panels, the iPhone 17 and the iPhone 17 Plus might not get a high refresh rate, which Apple calls ProMotion.
The iPhone 16 Pro and the iPhone 16 Pro Max also used M14 OLED panels with up to 2,000 nits of peak brightness. They have 30% higher brightness than M13 OLED panels used in the iPhone 15 series.
Samsung's own flagship phone, the Galaxy S25 Ultra, has a Samsung Display-made M13 OLED panel that can reach up to 2,600 nits peak brightness.
