Apple unveiled its new iPhone lineup last night. It has four models in the iPhone 17 series, and all of them get the best display feature from Samsung's flagship smartphone from last year, the Galaxy S24 Ultra. And there is one thing that Apple did better than Samsung.

All four iPhone 17 models have anti-reflective displays

The iPhone 17, iPhone Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max have OLED displays with a 120Hz variable refresh rate and an impressive peak brightness of up to 3,000 nits. These panels are made by LG Display and Samsung Display and are protected by Apple's Ceramic Shield 2 panel, which has anti-reflective properties similar to the Corning Gorilla Armor panel on the Galaxy S24 Ultra and the Galaxy S25 Ultra.

The Galaxy S24 Ultra and Galaxy S25 Ultra phones have received widespread praise for their anti-reflective displays. These displays greatly reduce glare and reflections from nearby light sources, making it easier to see the content on the screen. Additionally, the anti-reflective coating helps reduce the display's power consumption, improving the phone's battery life.

So, every new iPhone buyer gets the advantage of a better screen. Despite being a year early, Samsung didn't bring the feature to its base and Plus Galaxy S models, and we think Samsung missed a chance here.

Even the Galaxy S26 Pro and the Galaxy S26 Edge are expected not to have anti-reflective displays. The Galaxy S26 Ultra is expected to bring an AI-powered privacy feature for its display, though. It reportedly prevents people nearby from seeing what's on the phone's screen when the feature is activated, giving you a privacy shield.
