Samsung is hopeful that it will be able to move quite a lot of Galaxy Note 8 units. When asked about the company's sales target for the new device in a recent interview, Samsung's mobile chief DJ Koh said that the company expects to sell over 11 million units.
He pointed out that the Galaxy Note 5 sold 11 million units and that Samsung is hopeful that the Galaxy Note 8 will sell more than that.
The Galaxy Note 5 was the last new Note handset from Samsung. It performed reasonably well, even though many Galaxy Note 4 owners decided against updating because of several crucial factors.
The company may adjust shipments down the line because it wants to keep selling more Galaxy S8 units as well. Samsung is aiming to sell 48 million units of the Galaxy S8.
Samsung started taking pre-orders for the Galaxy Note 8 in key markets on August 24. The handset will be released on September 15.
