Samsung expects to ship 30 million Tizen-powered TVs this year

Samsung has revealed that the company aims to ship a total of a massive 60 million TVs in 2015, more than 50% of which they expect to be Tizen-powered. Samsung has shown keen interest in producing IoT-enabled devices, so having TVs that are more than just your everyday idiot boxes in the market is step one. The first Tizen-powered smart TVs were shown off by the company a couple of weeks back at the CES 2015, where the models JS8500, JS9000 and JS9500 were brought to life.

After giving the Galaxy Gear a Tizen update, Samsung also announced the Z1 smartphone which happens to be the first phone on the planet to run Tizen out of the box. The device sells in India for about US$90, and as you can tell from the price tag, the specifications are fairly entry-level. Also, a couple of cameras running on the open-source OS are expected to make an appearance soon.
