Verizon Galaxy Note 3 Android 4.4 KitKat update rolling out

Verizon, North America's largest carrier, is updating yet another Samsung device to Android 4.4 KitKat today. According to Android Central, Verizon is currently rolling out the update for the Galaxy Note 3, Samsung's current phablet flagship, via Samsung's Kies software and through the Verizon Upgrade Assistant, which means you'll need to connect your phone to a computer to hop on to KitKat at the moment. However, as is always the case, the over-the-air rollout shouldn't be far behind and should commence before this week is over.

Expect the update to bring the usual changes that are part of KitKat. These include, but are not limited to, faster performance and better battery life, white status bar icons, full-screen album art while playing music and a camera shortcut on the lockscreen, options to set the default SMS and launcher apps, better RAM management, and general stability improvements. Don't forget to grab Kies or Verizon's Upgrade Assistant (available on Mac and PC) if you're looking to start enjoying KitKat on your Galaxy Note 3 right away, and do let us know how your phone works after the update.

Update: The update is now rolling out over the air as well, so don't forget to head into the Settings » General » About phone » Software updates menu to grab it if it doesn't automatically show up on your phone.
