Tizen-powered TV won't come before Tizen smartphone

Samsung and Intel may have chalked out a future for Tizen but a Tizen-powered TV will not be the one to be part of the first Tizen-powered devices. At a Smart TV Global Summit 2013 event, Kim Hyun-seok, head of Samsung Electronics’ visual display unit confirmed about the progress in the Tizen TV but won't be until a smartphone makes the debut.

“We’ve seen much progress in the Tizen TV, but the phone will come first.”

Tizen devices have been more or less elusive and are often glimpsed only at the developer events hosted by Samsung. The first Tizen smartphone was expected this year but is now rumoured for a next year launch.

There's a developer conference in South Korea next week and perhaps, it will be the place where Samsung will provide more concrete details on the future of the operating system and its devices, in addition to Tizen 3.0.
