Well, we have some good news for YouTube viewers. YouTube is rolling out a major redesign, splitting video content into different tabs on all channel pages. Notably, live videos and Shorts will no longer appear on the Videos tab on channel pages. Instead, Shorts and Live videos are getting their own tabs making the Video tab clutter-free.
Love it or hate it, the short form video format, YouTube Shorts, appears everywhere nowadays on the platform. For those who do not like this format (including myself), it is quite irritating. Thankfully, YouTube heard the feedback and decided to give Shorts and live videos their own tabs. Previously, everything appeared inside the Videos tab.
This change will allow users to watch their favorite videos easily without having to go through uninteresting Shorts or live videos. As per the announcement, YouTube noted that this change “will make it easier for viewers to discover the kinds of content they’re most interested in when exploring a creator’s channel page.”
The new YouTube update will make its way to all devices in the coming weeks
Also, those who like watching Shorts or live streams can go to the dedicated tabs and consume the content all in one place. Also, when a viewer is watching Shorts in the Shorts tab and navigates back to the channel page, he/she will be redirected to the Shorts tab to allow them to consume more Shorts content.
This would make it better for creators to gain more views on their Shorts, as viewers won't be lost in consuming the creator's long-form content.
Viewers will also get to see ‘Recently uploaded' and ‘Popular' filters to view appropriate content on the channel page. YouTube says that the new update will begin rolling out today. However, it will be visible on more devices in the coming weeks and will be available across all devices.
