Samsung is expected to officially unveil the Galaxy S23 sometime in January 2023, a month ahead of its usual Galaxy S flagship release timeline. Ahead of the launch, most of the specifications of the smartphone leaked, including its chipset for the US market. And it looks like not many things are changing.

Tipster Yogesh Brar, who has a decent track record in leaking smartphone information, shared the Galaxy S23's specifications on Twitter. The smartphone reportedly features a 6.1-inch Dynamic AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The device is expected to feature thinner bezels compared to its predecessor.

Galaxy S23 specifications leak, hint towards an iterative upgrade

The Galaxy S23 will come equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, at least for the US variant. Various reports claim that Samsung is going exclusively with Qualcomm for the Galaxy S23 lineup, so we might not see an Exynos 2300 version of the smartphone. It will have 8GB RAM and 256GB internal storage. It will run Android 13-based One UI 5 out of the box.

Samsung's upcoming flagship smartphone will have a 50MP primary camera with OIS, a 12MP ultrawide camera, and a 10MP telephoto camera with OIS. Although the tipster claims that the phone will have a 10MP selfie camera, our own sources indicated that the Galaxy S23 might feature a 12MP selfie camera.

A 3,900mAh battery will power the Galaxy S23. It is a sizeable jump from the Galaxy S22's 3,700mAh cell. It will still use 25W fast charging and 15W fast wireless charging. We also expect the Galaxy S23 to feature reverse wireless charging, Samsung DeX, Samsung Pay, stereo speakers, an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance, and a USB Type-C port.

If this information is correct, the Galaxy S23 could be one more generation of iterative upgrades and not a full-fledged refresh as some might have expected.
