Among the latest advancements unveiled today at SDC22 were a deeper collaboration with Google around the SmartThings platform and a new security feature called Knox Matrix. Here's everything you need to know.

Samsung has partnered with Google to make IoT smart home devices more interoperable. Specifically, the two companies have worked together to make Matter-compatible devices work seamlessly across the SmartThings and Google Home platforms.

Thanks to this new collaboration based on Matter, SmartThings users will soon be able to manage and control Matter devices that have been set up through Google Home and vice-versa. Rather than having to go through hoops and loops across multiple apps to link accounts, the Matter standard enables multi-admin capabilities.

SmartThings users will be informed when a Matter device in their network has been set up through Google Home and will be given the option to import those settings to SmartThings. Similarly, Google Home users will have the option to import devices from SmartThings.

Introducing Samsung Knox Matrix — a multi-device security system based on blockchain technology

The Samsung Knox on-device security solution is one of the industry's best, but Samsung announced at SDC22 that it's pushing new limits and setting new standards through a new component called Knox Matrix.

Samsung's new Knox Matrix is a multi-device security solution with next-level security. It uses blockchain technology to enable multi-layer mutual monitoring across different connected devices.

Samsung says Knox Matrix will share credentials device-to-device and protect sensitive information. This improves security when, for example, a smartphone streams content to a TV or connects to a home appliance, such as an air conditioner.

The company will offer a unified security SDK for Knox Matrix, meaning that users should be able to take advantage of improved security whether they use Android OS, Tizen, or other operating systems.
