Samsung’s first smartphone with a 4:3 foldable display, the Galaxy Z Fold 8, has witnessed immense global demand, breaking multiple sales records and leaving the company struggling to keep up. Now, it looks like interest in the device is growing even further.
Samsung UK’s Corporate Vice President, Chang, told Forbes, “Customer demand for the Galaxy Z Fold8 family has increased 16% since launch, and with a 300% increase in active Google searches for Samsung foldables in the last month alone, our market leadership is stronger than ever.”
The 300% increase in interest in Samsung’s foldable phones coincided with Apple’s launch of its first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo. It is possible that Apple’s entry into the segment sparked greater interest in foldable phones overall, with some of that interest extending to Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 8 as consumers explore alternatives to Apple’s offering.
Whatever the reason, the increased interest could translate into higher sales, potentially boosting Samsung’s revenue and profits. The company’s financial reports for the third and fourth quarters should give us a clearer picture of how the Galaxy Z Fold 8 is performing commercially.
