TL;DR

  • Some Galaxy A57 owners who installed One UI 9.0 are reporting a boot issue that can leave the phone unable to start normally.
  • Users are being advised to delay the update for now until Samsung provides more information or a fix.
  • A temporary workaround is to boot into Safe Mode once, then restart the phone normally to bypass the XML file error.

Samsung started releasing One UI 9.0 for the Galaxy A57 outside of Korea less than 24 hours ago. However, what was supposed to be a celebration turned into a troubleshooting session for some A57 users.

Several Galaxy A57 users who updated to One UI 9.0 today have run into an issue that prevents the phone from booting up. We heard such reports from our friends at GalaxyClub, and at least one Galaxy A57 user shared the same issue on Reddit.

Until more details emerge, Galaxy A57 users may want to hold back from updating to One UI 9.0.

A possible fix exists

A few affected Galaxy A57 users seem to have found a fix for this One UI 9.0 bug, or at least a way to bypass the XML file error until Samsung fixes it.

The solution? Reboot your Galaxy A57 in safe mode:

  • Press and hold the power and volume down buttons.
  • Tap and hold Power Off until the Safe Mode button appears.
  • Select Safe Mode and wait for your phone to reboot.
  • Once in Safe Mode, reboot your phone normally to exit Safe Mode and bypass the bug.

Apparently, you only need to do this once to bypass Samsung's One UI 9 bug. So that's great. But whether Samsung will address the issue soon remains to be seen. Thankfully, the bug might not be as irritating as initially thought.
