Galaxy Z Flip8: How its compact design makes everyday life easier

Its pocket-friendly folded design makes the Galaxy Z Flip8 easy to carry throughout the day.

Checking a notification or changing the music doesn't need a full-size screen. The Galaxy Z Flip8 uses its 4.1-inch FlexWindow for those quick interactions, keeping the 6.9-inch main display folded away until you need more space.

At 180 grams and 13.1mm thick when folded, the Galaxy Z Flip8 is Samsung's thinnest and lightest Galaxy Z Flip yet. Its shorter folded shape leaves more room for the other things in your bag.

A message comes in while you're carrying something? You can check it on the cover screen with one hand, without opening the phone. Calendar, Weather, Samsung Health, timer and music widgets also let you bring frequently used information and controls to the FlexWindow. Quick settings are accessible there, too.

One UI 9 lets you add, remove and rearrange widgets directly on the cover screen. Swiping up opens an app tray for supported apps, including YouTube. That doesn't mean every Android app is automatically available on the FlexWindow, but you can do more than check notifications while keeping the phone folded.

Now Brief ^[1] brings your schedule, weather and health updates into one overview on the FlexWindow. A quick look can tell you what's coming up without opening several apps. The relevant account and connection requirements are listed below.

The FlexWindow doubles as a viewfinder for the 50MP rear wide camera, so you can frame selfies with that camera rather than relying only on the front-facing one. It also gives you a preview when recording yourself.

Partially fold the Flip8 and place it on a stable surface, and Flex Mode lets the phone act as its own stand. With FlexCam, you can frame hands-free photos and videos using the cover screen. A palm gesture can trigger a photo without reaching for the shutter button, which is useful when you want to join a group shot.

You can still unfold the phone whenever a task needs the full-size main display.
