TL;DR

  • Samsung’s first smart glasses have cleared FCC certification, suggesting they are close to launching.
  • The filings show multiple styles and two base models, with a power button inside the temples.
  • They support Wi‑Fi 6E and Wi‑Fi 7 plus Bluetooth 5.3, and Samsung says battery life can reach nine hours per charge with extra case charges.

A recent report suggested that Samsung plans to launch its first smart glasses later this year, and that timeline now seems highly probable. Multiple variants of the company's upcoming eyewear have cleared the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) certification process, indicating they are nearing release.

Samsung's smart glasses will be available in multiple designs, and two base models recently appeared in the FCC database: the SM-O200J and the SM–O200P. Certification documents for both models reveal a power button located on the inside of their broad temples.

This certification applies to multiple styles across both model families:

  • SM-0201J, SM-0202J, SM-0203J, SM-0204J, SM-0205J
  • SM-0201P, SM-0202P, SM-0203P, SM-0204P

The FCC filings also reveal that these upcoming smart glasses feature advanced wireless connectivity. Both models support Wi-Fi 6E and Wi-Fi 7, which is surprising for such compact devices. Lightweight gadgets with small batteries typically rely on Wi-Fi 5 or Wi-Fi 6.

Additionally, both eyewear models feature Bluetooth 5.3 with Low Energy (LE) and data transfer capabilities of up to 2Mbps.

Samsung has previously noted that its smart glasses can last up to nine hours on a single charge, while the companion charging case can provide up to seven additional charges. This means that with a fully charged case and glasses, users could go up to a week before needing to plug in again.
