Samsung opens One UI 9.0 beta program for Galaxy A55

Samsung has started rolling out the first One UI 9.0 beta for the Galaxy A55, based on Android 17.

The beta is currently available in India and South Korea, with firmware versions A556EXXUHZZI1 and A556SKSUAZZI1.

The update is about 2.1GB and includes the September 2026 security patch; more regions should follow soon.

Last month, we discovered evidence suggesting that Samsung may open the One UI 9.0 (Android 17) beta program for a mid-range phone like the Galaxy A55. That has finally turned out to be true, as the beta update is rolling out now for the phone.

Samsung has released the first beta version of One UI 9.0 (based on Android 17) for the Galaxy A55. Currently, the brand seems to be rolling it out in India and its home country, South Korea. In India, the update comes bearing firmware version A556EXXUHZZI1, while the update released in Korea has firmware version A556SKSUAZZI1 (via Samsung Community, Tarun Vats).

The update has a download size of around 2.1GB and includes the September 2026 security patch that was detailed earlier today.

Samsung should make it available in a few other regions around the globe, including the UK and the US soon.

Once available in your region, you can get it by opening the Samsung Members app, searching for the banner for the One UI 9.0 beta program for the Galaxy A55, tapping on it, and enrolling your device in it. Now, go to Settings > Software update > Check for updates.
