The Galaxy A18 will most likely be Samsung's first Galaxy Ax8 series phone, and it will be launched in both 4G and 5G variants. The processor used in the 4G variant of the Galaxy A18 has now be revealed, and it is the same one used by the Galaxy A17 4G.
An unreleased Samsung phone with model number SM-A185G was spotted in Geekbench 6's database. Based on Samsung's model number pattern, it will most likely be launched as the Galaxy A18 sometime later this year. As reported earlier, the entry reveals that the device uses a MediaTek chipset, the MT6789. It corresponds to the MediaTek Helio G99 processor.

It is the same chip that was used in the Galaxy A17, which means the Galaxy A18 won't bring any performance upgrade over its predecessor. The phone appears to be using 4GB of RAM and running Android 17 (One UI 9.0). And based on Samsung's software support track record for recently launched entry-level phones, the Galaxy A18 could also come with a promise on six major Android OS generation upgrades (up to Android 23).
The Galaxy A18 scored 745 points in Geekbench 6's single-core CPU performance test and 2,073 points in the multi-core CPU performance test.
Previous reports indicate that the 5G version of the Galaxy A18 will come equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon chip. The phone will reportedly be launched in October 2026 with a screen that has a U-shaped notch for the front camera and a triple-camera setup on the rear.
