Samsung has announced that its new foldable phones have set an all-time preorder record for Galaxy devices in its home country. The Galaxy Z Flip 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8, and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra collectively received more than 1.44 million preorders in South Korea, surpassing even the Galaxy Note 10 series.
Samsung began accepting preorders for the Galaxy Z Flip 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8, and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra on July 22. The preorder period ended on August 3. Together, the three foldable phones surpassed the Galaxy Note 10 series, which received 1.38 million preorders during its preorder period in South Korea.
According to a report, more than 70% of the preorders were for the Galaxy Z Fold 8. The Galaxy Z Flip 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra accounted for the remaining 30%.
These preorder figures reportedly exceeded Samsung's expectations. That result is surprising, given that all three phones are more expensive than their predecessors due to the ongoing memory chip shortage and Samsung has reduced preorder benefits, such as free storage upgrade, in most countries.
The wider form factor of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 appears to have been especially popular, as the phone reportedly received the most preorders in several markets.
