TL;DR

  • Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 8 is reportedly outselling the more feature-rich Z Fold 8 Ultra in South Korea pre-orders.
  • Its compact 4:3 design and Pistachio color have made it especially popular online, according to the article.
  • Samsung’s foldable lineup is seeing strong demand overall, including a record 271,000 pre-orders in India in 72 hours.

Last week, Samsung launched its latest flagship smartphones with a book-style foldable display: the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra and the Galaxy Z Fold 8. While the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra offers more features, it is the Galaxy Z Fold 8 that seems to be winning people over online.

Its compact 4:3 form factor, especially in the Pistachio color, has many people calling it “cute.” That popularity now appears to be translating into sales, as the Galaxy Z Fold 8 seems to have become the most sought-after device in the lineup, even surpassing the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra.

On X, popular tipster Ice Universe claims that, in South Korea, pre-orders for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 have already surpassed those for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. The tipster also predicts that Samsung's first 4:3 book-style foldable will become the best-selling device in the lineup.

It's not just the Galaxy Z Fold 8 that's off to a strong start. Samsung's latest foldable lineup, including the Galaxy Z Flip 8, appears to be selling exceptionally well. For example, in India, the company received a record 271,000 pre-orders within just 72 hours of opening pre-orders.

That's particularly impressive considering it took 15 days for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 to reach the same milestone.
