45% pre-orders came from tier 2 cities and beyond.

Samsung started taking pre-orders for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold 8, and the Galaxy Z Flip 8 in many countries around the world on the day it unveiled these devices. India was among the first markets, and now, it appears that the brand's latest foldables are off to a very strong start in the region.
Samsung has announced that it received 271,000 pre-orders for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold 8, and the Galaxy Z Flip 8 in India within the first 72 hours of pre-orders opening. By comparison, it took the tech giant 15 days to reach the same milestone with the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7.
What's even more impressive is that 45% of those pre-orders came from tier 2 cities and beyond. It suggests that foldable smartphones are no longer appealing only to tech enthusiasts in major metropolitan areas. Instead, they are increasingly being adopted by mainstream consumers, indicating that foldables are becoming less of a niche product.
Samsung also says it is confident that the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold 8, and the Galaxy Z Flip 8 will match the Galaxy S26 series in total pre-orders. If that happens, it would mark a major milestone for the company's foldable lineup. The brand will start shipping these phones on August 3, 2026, and open their regular sales from the day after.
