Galaxy Z Fold 8 was always going to be popular. It's a new style for Samsung's foldable lineup, the device has many genuine strengths, and it's priced less than the Ultra.
No surprises, then, that the latest from South Korea is that the passport-style Galaxy Z Fold 8 is outselling the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra during the pre-order period.
Samsung anticipated that it may see more demand for this model, that's why it reportedly hiked Galaxy Z Fold 8 production by 40% compared to the Ultra. However, demand is claimed to be even higher.
Pre-orders of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 have apparently sold out online through the 2nd week of August, well after the public release. The carrier variants have reportedly sold out similarly. On the other hand, there appears to be plenty of stock available for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra.
Samsung hasn't officially provided any breakdowns as yet, but this isn't hard to believe. There's a genuine novelty factor attached to the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and given its lower price point, it's also more attainable for a wider range of customers.
The company is taking pre-orders for the new foldable phones across major markets. The handsets are slated for release on August 7, 2026.
