You'd think Samsung would be well aware by now that customers don't really appreciate having bloatware on their phones. On the contrary, it believes you'd appreciate having another music streaming app on your phone.
Samsung today announced a “strategic collaboration” with Amazon Music and its app will now be pre-installed on millions of “select” Samsung phones and tablets across the globe.
Samsung hasn't specified which of its phones and tablets will have Amazon Music pre-installed, but you can probably imagine that it would be included on the company's flagships, including the ones due to be launched next week.
This collaboration also sees Amazon Music being distributed through the Galaxy Store, with the app itself being available for all Samsung devices. To celebrate this partnership, Samsung and Amazon Music are offering a free 3 month subscription to the music streaming service for those who download it from the Galaxy Store.
The free subscription is for the Amazon Music Unlimited tier which includes more than 100 million songs, in addition to a large catalog of Ultra HD and Spatial audio. Subscribers will also get one audiobook from Audible each month in select markets. Once the free trial is up, the subscription will be charged at $12.99 per month.
