Samsung has revealed the date for the official unveiling of its next-generation foldable phones and smartwatches. Most of the specifications of the upcoming foldable phones have already leaked, along with their South Korean pricing. Now, the US pricing for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra may have leaked as well.
According to a report from SEDaily, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 could be priced at $1,899 for the 256GB version in the US, while the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra could cost $2,099 for the 256GB variant.
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is the spiritual successor to last year’s Galaxy Z Fold 7, which launched at $1,999. That means the new Ultra-branded foldable could cost $100 more, and the price increase is likely due to higher DRAM and NAND flash memory costs.
Apparently, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra will be the world’s first phones to ship with One UI 9.0 and Gemini Intelligence out of the box. Gemini Intelligence is Google’s next-generation AI platform, featuring an AI operating layer designed to work autonomously across a user’s devices, apps, and services.
The report claims that the Galaxy Z Flip 8 will use a Snapdragon chipset in some regions, most likely North America. In other markets, the flip-style foldable will reportedly use an Exynos chip. Some reports also claim that the Galaxy Z Flip 8 will be Samsung’s last flip-style foldable phone.
According to reports and rumors, all three upcoming phones use a new hinge design and newer-generation OLED panels for a crease-less appearance.
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 could use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, while the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra could come equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy chip.
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 has a dual-camera setup (50MP + 50MP UW) on the rear. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra could feature a triple-camera setup (200MP + 50MP UW + 10MP 3x). Both devices could have higher capacity batteries and faster wired charging than their predecessors.
