Samsung's third and least expensive mid-range A-series phone of 2026 went official yesterday. The Galaxy A27 will hit the shelves starting early next month for $350 / €350.

It is meant to be the cheapest of the mid-range trio: A27, A37, and A57. And it is, at least on paper. In practice, things get messier in regions where Samsung happens to be discounting the Galaxy A37 to $329.

Pitting two phones from different price points against each other can seem unfair. But because you can technically buy the Galaxy A37 for less right now, with the right discount and some luck, that comparison matters. Arguably, it is even necessary.

Galaxy A37 vs Galaxy A27

At launch, Samsung did not go into much detail with the Galaxy A27’s spec sheet. Although we can see the big picture fairly clearly, Samsung glossed over some of the finer details. We'll have to do the same for this comparison.

For example, we know the Galaxy A27 has a new Infinity-O display, which Samsung presented as one of the phone's main selling points. The display has the same 120Hz refresh rate, too. But we don't know if it can reach the same 1900 nits of peak brightness as the A37.

All in all, based on what Samsung has revealed, the Galaxy A37 is better than the A27, seemingly in every way but one:

  • The A27 still has expandable storage, while the A37 does not.

Beyond that, the A37 leads in several areas:

  • Build quality: IP68 dust and water resistance vs IP64
  • Thinness: 7.4mm vs 7.8mm
  • Weight: 196g vs 200g
  • Fingerprint sensor: Under display vs side-mounted
  • Camera: 8MP ultrawide vs 5MP / 5MP macro vs 2MP
  • Bluetooth: 5.4 vs 5.1
  • Charging: 45W vs 25W
  • Performance: Exynos 1480 vs Snapdragon 6 Gen 3

On the latter point, the Exynos chip is better than the Snapdragon solution here. The Exynos 1480 is faster than the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 and scores higher in synthetic benchmarks across the board.

Galaxy A37 vs A27: Conclusion

If you're shopping for a $350 Galaxy A phone and you happen to catch the A37 on discount below the A27, it is the easier recommendation. You get more for your money, unless expandable storage is your top priority.

Of course, if you can't find a deal on the Galaxy A37 at your local Samsung shop, then we reach a different conclusion. Naturally, the Galaxy A27 will be cheaper in this case and a more viable option, while the A37 would sit outside your $350 budget.

All things considered, the Galaxy A37 is the better-specced phone, but it's also pricier than the A27 when Samsung isn't being generous. Perhaps whether one offers better value than the other depends entirely on shifting prices and temporary deals.
