Samsung's Game Mode for TVs is quite simply a game-changer. Cringe at that pun all you want, but it doesn't make Game Mode any less important for console and PC users.
Whichever external source your Samsung TV is connected to, whether it's a console or a PC, it's highly recommended that you use Game Mode regardless of how often you play video games.
The only downside to Game Mode is that the accompanying Game Bar can become a little distracting when it pops up every time. Thankfully, you can do something about this and enjoy the best of both worlds with fewer distractions.
Game Mode comes with several benefits for gamers and PC users, such as faster response times, reduced input lag, and minimized image-enhancing post-processing effects such as noise reduction and motion smoothing.
These changes make the TV feel more responsive, whether you're using a mouse, a gamepad, or other control methods and game accessories.
But beyond its helpful image tweaks, Game Mode also unlocks a set of gamer-focused tools presented through Samsung's Game Bar. The latter appears whenever you fire up a connected PC or console and your TV switches to a source that has Game Mode enabled.
The Game Bar is quite handy and offers quick access to resolution and refresh rate information, along with several tools, such as a virtual crosshair. Plus, for the most part, seeing the Game Bar pop up whenever you switch to a PC or console serves as confirmation that your Samsung TV has successfully switched to Game Mode.
On the other hand, that confirmation is mostly redundant, and having the Game Bar appear every single time you switch sources to your PC/console can get distracting and a little annoying. Thankfully, you can stop the Game Bar from launching automatically.
You can do this easily from your TV's settings menu, but first, make sure your TV is running in Game Mode. Then follow these steps:
Keep in mind that turning this option off won't disable the Game Bar entirely, which is great. This setting simply stops this UI element from appearing automatically whenever you switch to a Game Mode input.
However, you can still open the Game Bar at any time by long-pressing Play/Pause on the TV remote to access these extra tools or information about frame rates and more.
