Galaxy AI[8] on the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra has grown into a substantial set of features that touch almost every part of how you use the phone, from editing photos and managing notifications to taking notes, recording meetings, and communicating across languages. These are the ten Galaxy AI features that make the biggest difference to everyday use on the Galaxy S26 Ultra.

The features at a glance:

  • Photo Assist[1]: AI photo editing suite with AI Eraser, Move, Create, and Style tools.
  • Creative Studio[2]: Generate new images from text prompts.
  • Now Brief[3]: A daily summary of your schedule, reservations, and reminders.
  • Call Screening:AI call assistant that answers unknown calls, asks who's calling and why, and shows the conversation on screen in real time.
  • Audio Eraser[4]: Real-time background noise removal in videos and supported streaming apps.
  • Notification Highlights: Prioritises alerts and summarises long or busy notifications.
  • Note Assist[5]: Summarise, format, and translate notes in Samsung Notes.
  • Transcript Assist[6]: Record audio and generate written transcripts with speaker labels.
  • Writing Assist[7]: Adjust tone, correct grammar, and translate text across messaging and writing apps.

Photo Assist

Photo Assist is Samsung’s AI photo editing suite. On the Galaxy S26 Ultra with One UI 8.5, it has been completely overhauled from a basic object removal tool into a multi-function editor split into four tools: AI Eraser, Move, Create, and Style.

AI Eraser removes unwanted objects or people from a photo, with the phone filling in the background. Move lets you reposition objects within a photo. The new Create tab redesigns photos based on voice and text prompts — you can describe a change to the scene and the phone regenerates the image accordingly. Style transforms photos into different visual looks including 3D cartoon, comic, and watercolour.

Samsung also added an edit history this year, so you can step back through changes if you change your mind — something that was not possible before. A new on-device processing toggle lets you run object removal entirely on the Galaxy S26 Ultra without sending data to the cloud.

Creative Studio

Creative Studio is a new standalone Galaxy AI app that generates images from scratch using text prompts. Where Photo Assist edits photos you have already taken, Creative Studio creates entirely new visuals — stickers, wallpapers, greeting cards, profile cards, and invitation cards — based on what you describe.

Open Creative Studio from the app drawer, choose a template type, and type a description of what you want. You can also combine sketches, existing photos, and text prompts for more control over the result. Creative Studio is also accessible from Samsung Notes, where you can generate a sticker or card and embed it in a note without switching apps.

Now Brief

Now Brief is a Galaxy AI daily summary that appears on the Galaxy S26 Ultra each morning. It pulls together your calendar events, meeting times, reservations, and other relevant information from across your apps into a single overview — including details that may have come in through messages rather than being manually added to your calendar.

On the Galaxy S26 Ultra, Now Brief learns your habits over time, so the information you see becomes more relevant to your day. It reduces the number of apps you need to open to stay on top of what is coming up.

Call Screening

Call Screening uses an AI call assistant to answer incoming calls on your behalf. When a call comes in, the assistant asks the caller who they are and why they are calling, and you see what the caller and the assistant say on the screen in real time.

You can choose to answer the call at any point, switch to a Text call, or let the assistant handle it. Call Screening is particularly useful for handling unknown numbers and suspected spam without having to pick up the call yourself.

Auto screen calls can be configured to automatically screen suspected spam and scam calls, or all unknown callers — anyone who is not in your contacts, not tagged in your call history, and has not called you before. You can choose between two voices for the assistant, set the language, and the conversation transcript and a screening summary remain visible on screen even when the phone is locked.

You can find Call Screening at Settings > Galaxy AI > Call screening.

Audio Eraser

Audio Eraser removes background noise from videos. Previously this only worked on videos you had recorded yourself, but on the Galaxy S26 Ultra with One UI 8.5, Audio Eraser also works in real time while watching videos in supported third-party apps including YouTube, Netflix, and Instagram.

To use it while streaming, swipe down to open the Quick Panel and tap Audio Eraser while a video is playing. A noise reduction slider and a Voice Focus toggle let you adjust how aggressively background sound is filtered. The six types of sound it can detect and reduce are voices, music, wind, nature, crowd, and noise.

Notification Highlights

Notification Highlights makes the notification panel easier to manage in two ways. First, it summarises long chat notifications and busy group threads into a shorter version so you can see what a conversation is about at a glance. Second, it learns which notifications you tend to check first and moves the most relevant ones to the top of your panel over time.

Notification Highlights is enabled from Settings > Galaxy AI > Notification Highlights. It takes a few days to learn your patterns before the prioritisation becomes accurate.

Note Assist

Note Assist is a Galaxy AI tool built into Samsung Notes. It works on any note with at least 200 characters and can summarise long notes into key points, auto-format unstructured content into headings and bullet points, correct spelling and grammar, and translate notes into another language.

For Galaxy S26 Ultra users who take notes with the S Pen, Note Assist works with handwritten notes too — it can clean up handwriting, convert it to text, and then apply the same summarisation and formatting tools. Note Assist also supports PDF translation within Samsung Notes, so you can import a document and translate it directly within the note.

Transcript Assist

Transcript Assist is built into the Voice Recorder app and converts recorded audio into a full written transcript with speaker labels. After recording a meeting, lecture, or interview, you can tap Summarise to get a condensed version of the key points, or translate the transcript into another language directly from the same screen.

Transcripts can be exported to Samsung Notes for long-term reference, where Note Assist tools can then reformat or summarise them further. The transcription itself is processed on the device, so the audio does not need to be uploaded to a server. Summarisation and translation require a network connection.

Writing Assist

Writing Assist is accessible from the Samsung keyboard across messaging and writing apps. It can adjust the tone of a message — making it more professional or more casual depending on the context — correct spelling and grammar, and translate messages in real time between languages.

The Composer tool can also draft a message from scratch based on a format and tone you select, which is useful for routine communications like follow-up emails, meeting requests, or formal replies. Writing Assist works in most apps where you type using the Samsung keyboard, including email clients, messaging apps, and document editors.
