Samsung will launch two book-style foldable phones this year: the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 has a more compact footprint and a wider foldable screen than the Galaxy Z Fold 7, but it reportedly features a larger battery and faster charging.
Tipster Ice Universe has claimed that the Galaxy Z Fold 8 is powered by a 4,800mAh battery. If this information is accurate, the phone would have a battery capacity that is 400mAh higher than the Galaxy Z Fold 7's 4,400mAh battery. The upcoming foldable phone is also claimed to support up to 45W fast wired charging, nearly double the Galaxy Z Fold 7's 25W charging speed.
Based on previous reports, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 will sit one step below the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra in terms of pricing and capabilities. It reportedly features a 5.4-inch cover display and a 7.6-inch foldable crease-less internal display, both using 120Hz Dynamic AMOLED 2x panels with HDR10+ support. It will also have stereo speakers and a side-mounted fingerprint reader.
On the front, the phone is expected to feature a 10MP selfie camera. The internal display is also expected to house a 10MP selfie camera. On the rear, it uses a 50MP + 50MP dual-camera setup capable of recording 4K video at 60fps and 8K video at 30fps. The phone is expected to be equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy processor, 12GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage.
