All eyes are on Samsung to see how it responds to increasing competition in the foldable smartphone market, especially to Apple's first foldable iPhone that is launching later this year. The South Korean firm is preparing to launch two book-style foldable phones this year: the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide.

Recently, their designs were revealed through CAD-based renders. Now, those designs appear to have been confirmed through files found within One UI 9.

Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide has a dual-camera setup

The designs of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide were discovered in One UI 9 firmware files by Android Authority. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide, which is the more distinctive of the two, appears to feature a shorter and wider form factor. When unfolded, it will likely have a much wider screen aspect ratio compared to the standard Galaxy Z Fold 8 and all previous Galaxy Z Fold models.

Interestingly, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide appears to feature only two rear cameras, one fewer than previous Galaxy Z Fold devices. It is likely to include a 200MP primary camera and a 50MP ultrawide camera. In comparison, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 is expected to retain a triple-camera setup, potentially including a 10MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom in addition to the primary and ultrawide cameras.

Both phones are expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy processor, which is also used in the Galaxy S26 Ultra. The upcoming foldable devices are also rumored to feature a crease-less OLED display, similar to the one Samsung Display showcased at CES 2026 earlier this year.
