Short-form video has become the dominant format on social media, and Samsung clearly wants in. The company is now bringing short-form video content to its Samsung News platform, expanding the way it delivers content beyond traditional articles.
Samsung News debuted in the USA in 2023 as a replacement for Samsung Free, and the platform expanded to the UK last year.
It serves as a curated feed that pushes news directly to Galaxy users through the home screen, making it one of the more visible content hubs on Samsung devices.
Galaxy device users can access Samsung News by swiping right on the home screen. The platform aggregates stories from various sources and presents them in a clean, scrollable interface. With this latest update, it is no longer limited to written content.
Short-form video is now rolling out in Samsung News across the UK and the USA. Samsung says it partnered with PA Media to bring this feature to life, describing it as “an engaging and dynamic way to discover the latest stories.”
Importantly, this new content format isn’t limited strictly to news. Short-form videos will span entertainment, lifestyle, and trending topics, which suggests Samsung is aiming for a wider, more casual audience for Samsung News.
As for what comes next, Samsung is keeping things vague. The company says Samsung News “is just getting started,” with more updates planned for 2026 and beyond, but it stopped short of sharing specifics.
For now, short-form video is limited to the UK and the USA. However, Samsung News itself is available in more markets, and users can enable it on their Galaxy phones by pinching the home screen, swiping right, enabling Media Page, and choosing Samsung News.
Samsung News is also available on Galaxy tablets, and it's accessible the same way as it is on Galaxy phones.
