Samsung unveils a giant LED screen for cinemas at CinemaCon 2026

Samsung offers several display solutions for cinemas, including premium offerings, that enable operators to deliver a more immersive and visually spectacular experience to their patrons.

Staying true to form, Samsung has unveiled a significantly large 14-meter Onyx Cinema LED screen at the CinemaCon 2026 in Las Vegas.

In addition to its superior image quality, Samsung's Onyx Cinema LED screens also reduce operational complexity for operators. These are LED screens so they don't require any lamps, cooling systems or ongoing projector maintenance as conventional cinema equipment.

The setup is therefore much more reliable and streamlined for operators. Individual components can easily be serviced which reduces downtime and frees up staff time so that it can be focused more on guest service.

LED use in cinemas as gradually gaining traction, and Samsung remains in the perfect position to fully capitalize on it. The company has already introduced its 5-meter (16-feet) and 10-meter (33-feet) Onyx Cinema LED models for small and medium-sized operations. At CinemaCon 2026, it introduced a new 14-meter (46-feet) standard size that's been designed for premium large format environments.

This latest model delivers the same reliable Onyx performance with added enhancements tailored for larger screens. Image quality remains consistent and sharp with a 3mm pixel pitch, while flexible scaling enables operators to expand the screen up to 20 meters (66 feet) without compromising quality.

Star Cinema Grill was one of the first exhibitors in the United States to adopt Samsung Onyx at its Richmond, Texas location back in 2019. Others are gradually adopting the new technology as well.
