Enjoying One UI's separate Notification and Quick panels? Try this

Ever since One UI 7 dropped, Galaxy phone users have had the option to choose between unified and separate Notification and Quick panels, with the separate layout being the new addition.

If you prefer the latter, you already know how it works: swipe down on the left side of the status bar for Notifications, and swipe down on the right side for the Quick panel.

It's a popular belief that the status bar is split right down the middle between these two functions, but that's not quite correct. In reality, it's a 70-30 split, with the Notification panel gesture taking up the larger portion of the status bar.

But did you know you can change this ratio? The option exists and it is official. You can change this setting, but you will need Samsung's customization suite, Good Lock, and more specifically, the QuickStar module.

QuickStar allows you to fine-tune this split ratio in a way Samsung does not expose in the default One UI settings. Here's everything you need to know.

Start by downloading Good Lock on your Galaxy phone if you haven't already. It went global last year, so regional restrictions are no longer an issue.

Once installed, open Good Lock and download the QuickStar module. Then proceed with the following steps:

Inside, you'll find a “Split panel ratio” option with a slider underneath. This reflects the default balance between the Notification and Quick panels in One UI 7 and later. As you can see in these screenshots, it sits at roughly 70-30.

Plus, you can actually see the ratio change live at the top of the screen as you move the slider. The status bar visually updates in real time to show the adjusted split using two shades of blue.

You can push the ratio to either extreme if you want. For example, 90-10 or even 10-90 are both possible limits, depending on how you prefer to prioritize gestures.

And between those two extremes, you get a high degree of granularity. Adjustments can be made in 1% increments, giving you precise control over how the status bar behaves.

Overall, if the default One UI setup doesn't feel quite right for your usage, this is one of those small but meaningful Good Lock tweaks worth trying out.
