Every Samsung Galaxy S Ultra smartphone has featured Qualcomm’s flagship chipsets for mobile devices (at least in a few regions), and the South Korean tech giant's next device in the lineup, the Galaxy S27 Ultra, may also follow in the same footsteps. It is expected to feature Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, and today, we are learning some of its key specifications.
On Weibo, Digital Chat Station has shared a few key specifications of Qualcomm’s two upcoming SoCs with model numbers SM8975 and SM8950. Considering the brand’s model number and naming convention, as well as the leaks and rumours about these processors, SM8975 is expected to be the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro, and SM8950 is expected to be the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6.
According to the tipster, Qualcomm will get the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro as well as the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 made on TSMC’s 2nm fabrication process. They claim that both chipsets will feature a “2+3+3” CPU configuration (two prime cores, three high-performance cores, and three power efficiency cores).
Digital Chat Station says that the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro will feature the Adreno 850 GPU with 18MB GMEM (graphics memory) and support up to LPDDR6 RAM. Whereas the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 will reportedly feature the Adreno 845 GPU with 12MB GMEM and support for up to LPDDR5X RAM.
For your reference, Qualcomm’s current flagship chipset for mobile devices, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, has two prime CPU cores, six high-performance CPU cores, Adreno 840 GPU, and support for up to LPDDR5X RAM.
With a new CPU configuration, a new GPU, and faster memory, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro in the Galaxy S27 Ultra may offer significantly faster performance over the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 in the Galaxy S26 Ultra.
