In December 2025, Samsung introduced two standalone speakers: the Music Studio 5 and the Music Studio 7. Both models support multiple audio streaming platforms, including Spotify Connect. However, it appears that the more affordable model of the two may lack support for Spotify’s lossless audio streaming.
On Samsung’s Community forum for Korea, a Music Studio 5 user reports that when they connect the speaker to Spotify using Spotify Connect, and go to the Spotify app on their phone to set the music streaming quality for the speaker, the ‘Lossless' option is unavailable. It suggests that the speaker may not currently support Spotify’s highest-quality streaming quality tier.
Spotify announced its lossless audio tier in September 2025, offering audio streaming at up to 24-bit/44.1kHz. While it consumes significantly more data than other streaming options on the platform — up to around 1GB per hour — it delivers the best audio quality, closest to the original recording among them all. Spotify has been rolling out this feature to supported platforms and devices.
Samsung has yet to clarify whether this is a temporary limitation, a software issue, or a hardware restriction. For now, if you’re considering the Music Studio 5 primarily for Spotify Connect streaming, it’s worth noting that lossless audio support does not appear to be available.
