There are a few new headline-worthy features that Samsung has introduced with the Galaxy S26 Ultra. The Privacy Display is perhaps the most noteworthy as it solves a real pain point for all users.
Samsung showcased just how it works to great theatric effect during the Unpacked event last month. Now that we have the device in our hands, our colleagues at SamMobile's YouTube channel show just how great this feature is.
When you have it enabled, this is truly a gamechanger. As you can see in the video, the display's visbility reduces significantly from different angles. This means someone can't peek over your shoulder or from the side while you're out in public to see what you're doing on your phone.
It was possible to get similar protection before but you'd have to get a third-party “privacy” screen protector. Samsung has built this feature at the hardware level. So while that does get you privacy, the display quality does take a hit when you have it enabled. You can see in the video how the quality changes when Privacy Display is on vs when it's off.
There are nuances to the feature that are explained in detail so do check out the full video below. Despite that, this is a welcome addition to the Galaxy S26 Ultra, particularly is it puts the control fully within the user's hands.
