Samsung could have a growing Galaxy tablet problem

Its sales dropped in Q4 2025, while all rival brands saw improved sales.

Samsung is in a bit of a spot. While it delivered record-breaking profit in the fourth quarter (Q4) of 2025 due to robust memory chip sales, its tablet sales declined during the same period. Its struggles in the tablet segment may be a bigger concern than its smartphone sales plateau.

Market research firm Omdia reported that Samsung’s tablet sales dropped by around 9 percent in Q4 2025 compared to the previous year. The company sold a total of 6.44 million Galaxy Tab series devices during the quarter, down from 7.09 million tablets in Q4 2024. Its global tablet market share was 14.7 percent, a three percentage points drop.

This decline might not have been significant if the overall tablet market had also weakened. However, the opposite was true, as the global tablet market grew by 9.8 percent.

Apple, the undisputed leader in the global tablet market, sold 19.63 million tablets during the same period, representing a solid 16.5 percent growth compared to Q4 2024. Lenovo’s tablet sales rose by an impressive 36.2 percent, reaching 3.86 million units.

Huawei’s tablet shipments also increased by 14.8 percent year over year in Q4 2025. Another Chinese company, Xiaomi, recorded 10.1 percent annual growth in tablet sales. Samsung was the only major brand to see a decline, despite launching its latest high-end tablets, the Galaxy Tab S11 and Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra, just days before the start of Q4 2025.

The exact reason for Samsung’s tablet struggles remains unclear. Whether the issue is pricing, value, product positioning, or features, the South Korean company may need to rethink its tablet strategy.
