Earlier reporting had suggested that Samsung may finally bring built-in Qi2 magnets to the Galaxy S26 series. Some accessories have been leaked that suggest this may very well be the case.
However, if a new leak is to be believed, Samsung may not be including native Qi2 magnets on its upcoming flagship series, in what will certainly disappoint many.
Samsung has adopted the Qi2 technology but only partially, relying on cases with magnets instead of integrating magnets within the phone itself. The Galaxy S26 series was expected to move to full native integration but that may not be happening.
A new leak from Nieuwemobiel.nl appears to make it very clear that no Qi2 magnets will be built into the Galaxy S26 phones. It lists official Samsung cases for the Galaxy S26 series which include both magnetic and non-magnetic versions.
Qi2 magnets in phones work best when no case is being used, as a case with any substantial thickness weakens the magnetic pull to the extent that the attached accessories don't work properly. That's why almost every official cases for a phone with built-in magnets also have magnets to ensure that any accessories can attach and work properly.
It begs the question, why would Samsung offer official non-magnetic cases for the entire new lineup if it had integrated Qi2 magnets within the devices? Doing so would fundamentally impair a core hardware feature of the device, so it wouldn't make sense for Samsung to sell non-magnetic cases for the Galaxy S26 series.
This would be a shame though, as Samsung has built new accessories like the 25W magnetic wireless charger, but continues to delay full native implementation of the Qi2 technology.
