After releasing details about the February 2026 security patch for compatible Galaxy devices, Samsung has revealed which phones will no longer receive security updates and which devices will receive fewer updates going forward. As part of this change, the Galaxy S21 series will no longer receive software updates.
The Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, and Galaxy S21 Ultra are not listed in the February 2026 security update scope, which means they will no longer receive software updates, including regular security patches. Updates may only be issued if a critical vulnerability requires immediate attention.
Launched in 2021, the Galaxy S21 series received its final major software update, Android 15-based One UI 7.0, in the first half of 2025. Its last security update was released in November 2025.
Samsung has fulfilled its promise of providing four major Android operating system updates to the Galaxy S21 series. The lineup received Android 12 (One UI 4) in November 2021, Android 13 (One UI 5) in November 2022, Android 14 (One UI 6) in December 2023, and Android 15 (One UI 7) in May 2025.
Samsung has also moved the Galaxy S21 FE, Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and Galaxy S22 Ultra to a quarterly security update schedule. These phones were launched in early 2022.
