One more Samsung app joins extended reality.

App support for the Galaxy XR was limited at launch and still isn’t great, though it’s not nearly as bad as the Apple Vision Pro right now. The situation is slowly improving.
One key Samsung app completely missing at launch was SmartThings. You couldn’t even run the mobile app on the headset. Now, there’s a dedicated SmartThings app for XR — with some limitations.
The new app looks clean and XR-friendly, yet it’s missing features found on the mobile app and even Samsung TVs. Most notably, Map View isn’t available.
Maybe that’s a good thing. Optimistically, Samsung could be planning a more intricate SmartThings Map View designed specifically for XR. We hope future updates will let us check smart home devices just by looking at them through the headset.
Or maybe this simplified version will stick. Either way, the fact that Samsung is bringing its own apps to XR is a positive sign. The more the merrier.
