It's a phone... It's a tablet... It's the Galaxy Z TriFold

Samsung has expanded its foldable phone lineup in the USA with the launch of the Galaxy Z TriFold. It introduces an entirely new form factor and comes closer than ever to delivering a true phone-tablet hybrid design — or at least the truest one yet.
We’ve had the Galaxy Z TriFold for a few weeks now, having picked it up shortly after its launch in Korea. So as the TriFold approaches its US debut, we already have a solid idea of what this device can do. Here are our top five Galaxy Z TriFold features, in no particular order.
The displays, or rather, the versatility of the TriFold's displays and aspect ratios. Unless you experience it firsthand, it’s hard to fully grasp how magical the Galaxy Z TriFold feels.
Unfolding what starts as a 6.5-inch smartphone into a generously sized tablet with a 10-inch foldable screen is almost mind-bending. But that’s exactly what the Galaxy Z TriFold does, and it's breathtaking every time.
The two gorgeous displays, paired with the hybrid design, make the Galaxy Z TriFold an excellent choice for users who appreciate diversity.
Whether you want to watch movies, play mobile games, or get some actual work done, including document editing and productivity tasks, the Galaxy Z TriFold handles it all with ease.
Thanks to its large foldable screen, users can run up to three apps simultaneously, each occupying its own screen segment.
Speaking of productivity, the Galaxy Z TriFold not only supports Samsung DeX but is also the only phone capable of running DeX directly on the device itself. Other Galaxy phones require an external monitor or TV for DeX.
Granted, the Galaxy Z TriFold isn’t a normal phone. It’s a phone-tablet hybrid, even more so than the Galaxy Z Fold 7. Its large, tablet-sized display makes it the perfect playground for DeX.
In a rather unusual twist, the Galaxy Z TriFold has one of the largest batteries in any Samsung phone. It doesn’t quite match a few low-cost Galaxy M and F models that pack 6,000mAh units, but it still has a generous 5,600mAh battery with 45W charging.
Admittedly, that number doesn’t sound impressive when you remember the TriFold becomes a 10-inch tablet when unfolded. For a tablet-sized device, a 5,600mAh battery sounds quite modest.
Fold it back up, though, and you’re looking at a 6.5-inch smartphone with a very beefy 5,600mAh battery.
So depending on how you use the Galaxy Z TriFold, it may or may not be Samsung’s battery champion. Context matters here.
Last but not least, the Galaxy Z TriFold has excellent cameras, especially for a tablet.
It’s not the best Samsung mobile camera setup overall — that title still belongs to the Galaxy S25 Ultra. The camera hardware is also identical to what you’ll find on the Galaxy Z Fold 7.
Still, while the Galaxy Z TriFold doesn’t have Samsung’s best phone camera system, it almost certainly has the most powerful camera setup ever put on a tablet. And once again, the TriFold is both.
