There's a lot of excitement among Samsung fans for One UI 8.5. The next major iteration of Samsung's software brings several new features as well as user interface improvements.
However, those who own a foldable smartphone may not be too excited if not a lot changes between how One UI 8.5 is on the Galaxy Z series now and then.
Our colleagues at SamMobile TV have installed One UI 8.5 on a Galaxy Z Fold 6, and there are a few things about the firmware on the foldables that they just can't stand.
It has already been highlighted quite a few times that One UI 8.5 brings incredible customization for the Quick Panel. You can move things around, customize the size of the toggles, and much more. It works as you'd expect, swipe down from the left to show the notifications, but if you want to swipe across to get to the Quick Panel toggles, it won't let you.
Swiping from the top right brings down the Quick Panel but then you can't swipe to go to the notifications. It's unnecessarily frustrating. Another change worth noticing is that Single Take and dual recording have been removed from the camera app. Samsung has struck a compromise by adding these features to Camera Assistant, as we've already seen on One UI 8.5 for the Galaxy S25.
Do check out the full video below to see what other gripes we have with One UI 8.5 on foldables right now. Hopefully Samsung addresses them before the public release, which is due to take place likely in March.
