Samsung launched the Galaxy AI for Galaxy phones with the Galaxy S24 series in January 2024. Back then, the brand said that it would let people use its suite of AI features for free till the end of 2025. However, in August last year, the company confirmed to a publication that it would offer Galaxy AI for free forever.
While that was great to hear, nothing was set in stone, as the tech giant’s terms and conditions for Galaxy AI still read that it would be free till 2025. Well, that’s finally changing. Samsung has updated the terms and conditions for its suite of AI features to reflect that it will be free, but there’s a massive catch.
Earlier, Samsung’s terms and conditions for Galaxy AI read “Use of AI features is complimentary through 2025.” Now, the brand has replaced that sentence with “Galaxy AI basic features provided by Samsung are free” (via Ice Universe).
While the part that says that Galaxy AI will be free is great news, as people won’t have to pay money to use it. However, it also mentions the word “basic.” It suggests that Samsung may offer Galaxy AI's basic features for free and more advanced features via a paid subscription.
