Most Galaxy users found ignoring AI image editing features

Samsung’s Galaxy AI suite of features includes Photo Assist. It gives you the ability to resize or move objects in a photo, or get rid of unwanted objects, such as people in the background, entirely. It could be quite helpful in day-to-day life. Well, it looks like the majority of people using Samsung phones may not be using Photo Assist.

In a press release, Samsung talked about a new European research. When ten people were asked to review photos in their phone’s Gallery app, nine individuals (86%) “noticed background elements they wish they could remove — including photo-bombers (38%), stray objects (33%), and unwanted shadows or reflections (34%).” 

The AI-powered image editing tools on their phones had the capability to fix those issues. However, 74% people never used those tools. While the research doesn’t talk about which phones these people used, the research shows that only 26% people use AI-powered image editing tools to fix the issues that they notice in the photos. So, what could be the issue? We assume it is the discoverability of these features.

According to the research, 57% people said that taking photos of a moment “pulls them out of the moment they’re trying to enjoy.” Samsung’s goal is to help people with that. The brand wants users to just focus on enjoying the moment rather than taking the perfect shot. If the photo doesn't turn out to be the way they wanted, they can use Galaxy AI to edit those images.
