Samsung is making steady progress on One UI 8.5 for the Galaxy Z Fold 7. The first test build of the update showed up on Samsung’s servers in September, and now a new build has appeared, confirming that development is moving forward.
One UI 8.5 will launch in 2026 alongside the Galaxy S26 series. After the Galaxy S26 phones go on sale, Samsung will start releasing One UI 8.5 to older devices, including the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7.
Samsung was preparing to launch a One UI 8.5 beta program in November, but with the Galaxy S26 launch expected to be delayed, the beta program will likely be pushed back as well. However, we still expect it to begin before the end of the year.
One UI 8.5 is expected to be a visually focused update. Based on early leaked Galaxy S25 Ultra firmware, it appears Samsung is taking some cues from iOS and Apple’s new Liquid Glass UI design. However, the company is still fine-tuning the software, so the final version could look quite different.
