Reading time: 1 minutes
Earlier this year, Samsung launched a new Onyx cinema display, the successor to the first-gen Onyx screen that the brand launched in 2017. Well, the new Onyx has made its debut in Korea.
Samsung has announced that Lotte Cinema Sillim’s Gwang-eum LED theatre is the first venue in the country to deploy Samsung’s new Onyx cinema display. It is Lotte Cinema's seventh LED venue.
Samsung’s new Onyx cinema display is available in four sizes: 16 feet, 33 feet, 46 feet, and 66 feet. It features 4K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate, supports HDR, and has a peak brightness of 300 nits. Samsung also offers an auto calibration tool that allows theatres to easily calibrate the display.
Many cinemas around the world have deployed Samsung's first-generation Onyx display. We expect the same to be the case with the second-generation model. Lotte Cultureworks' Senior Manager at Operations Innovation Team, Jinha Jeong, said: “Samsung Onyx enables sophisticated color expression and reproduces true blacks, earning highly positive feedback from audiences.“
