Samsung introduced a major redesign to the Weather app with the One UI 8.0 update. However, this update also removed a feature that some users found quite helpful. To address this, Samsung has decided to bring it back with the One UI 8.5 update next year.
With One UI 7.0, Samsung introduced pollen reports in the stock Weather app. However, it was removed with the One UI 8.0 update, but it is making a comeback with One UI 8.5. The folks over at Android Authority spotted pollen reports in One UI 8.5's leaked stock Weather app.
Those who have allergies to pollen will find this information useful, and it could be especially useful if someone is heading out of home for outdoor activities. The app can show three types (Grass, Ragweed, and Trees) of pollen, each with a color coded leaf, and four values for them: None, Low, Moderate, and High.
You can see that in the screenshots below.
That’s not the only change discovered. One UI 8.5 appears to be introducing a subtle redesign, featuring a glass UI design language. You can see this in the second screenshot above. The Back, Search, and Options buttons have a glassy appearance, appearing a layer above the rest of the elements. It creates a multi-layered and three-dimensional look.
Samsung will likely debut Android 16-based One UI 8.5 software with the Galaxy S26 series early next year. Soon after the launch of the Galaxy S26 lineup, the software could be released to all other eligible devices.
