There have been several Classic smartwatches before Samsung released the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic in 2025. The Classic smartwatch brand is essentially 10 years old, and Samsung USA now offers trade-in deals for nearly every old model.
In essence, you can exchange any of the previous Classic models for a hefty discount on the new Galaxy Watch 8 Classic in the USA. However, there are a couple of caveats for the Gear S2 Classic and Gear S3 Classic. See all the details below.
If you have a Samsung Classic smartwatch from the Wear OS era, i.e., the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic or the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic, you can select your model from the trade-in device list at the Samsung e-shop for a discount on the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic.
On the other hand, neither the Gear S2 Classic nor the Gear S3 Classic is listed outright, but you can still technically save some cash by exchanging either one of these models for the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic.
Regarding the “Other” brand category, Samsung USA offers discounts of $150 on “any smartwatch, any condition” that isn't listed among Samsung, Apple, and Garmin models.
In other words, even though the Gear S3 Classic and Gear S2 Classic aren't outright listed, you can still exchange them for $150 off on the latest model.
As far as the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic goes, it starts at $499, and with a trade-in discount of $250, you can buy it in the USA for as low as $249.
Some of these trade-in deals appear to have been enhanced for a limited time, so if you have any intention to upgrade your older Classic watch, you should definitely check out Samsung's e-shop sooner rather than later.
