Samsung is expected to launch its new wireless earbuds alongside the Galaxy S26 series early next year. As you'd expect, here have already been some leaks and rumors about the device which may be launched as the Galaxy Buds 4 Pro.
They may also be accompanied by the Galaxy Buds 4. New signs have emerged, highlighting that the development work on these earbuds is now in full swing.
A recent One UI 8.5 leak revealed that the unreleased firmware doesn't just have the model numbers for these earbuds, it also refers to them by name in the strings. Thus it emerged that the SM-R640 will be the Galaxy Buds 4 Pro and the SM-R540 will be the Galaxy Buds 4.
It has also been highlighted on X that the firmware for the Galaxy Buds 4 is now being tested, with version R640XXU0AYI1 appearing on Samsung's servers. This highlights that things are moving in the right direction and we should see the new earbuds alongside the new flagship phones next year.
Samsung is expected to make major changes to the Galaxy Buds 4 Pro in particular. Past reports have suggested that the company may add UWB connectivity to the Galaxy Buds 4 Pro, but no concrete evidence has emerged to support this theory so far.
