The Galaxy S25 FE, unveiled virtually at Samsung’s September 4 Galaxy Unpacked event, is the fifth member of the Galaxy S25 family. Like previous FE (Fan Edition) devices, it blends high-end features with a few compromises to keep costs down. For example, instead of Samsung’s latest 2025 flagship chip, the S25 FE uses the Exynos 2400 from 2024.
That said, Samsung hasn’t cut any corners when it comes to software support. The Galaxy S25 FE is guaranteed seven generations of Android and One UI upgrades, along with seven years of security updates (counted from its global launch date). That puts it on par with the rest of the Galaxy S25 lineup in terms of longevity.
In fact, the Galaxy S25 FE has an advantage over its pricier siblings. Since it launches with Android 16 and One UI 8 out of the box, while the Galaxy S25, S25+, S25 Ultra, and S25 Slim debuted with Android 15 and One UI 7, the FE will ultimately get one additional One UI version at the end of its support cycle.
That means owners will enjoy not only the same number of Android upgrades but also the benefit of ending up on a newer One UI version than the other Galaxy S25 models. For fans who want a long-lasting Samsung phone without paying top dollar, the Galaxy S25 FE looks like one of the best choices yet.
