While the company has manufacturing facilities across the globe, Vietnam is where Samsung phones are made primarily, from where they're exported to markets as far as North America.
Vietnam is a very important manufacturing hub for the Korean conglomerate and the many companies that operate under it. Samsung Electronics, the company that makes the phones, relies heavily on the output from its factories in the country to meet its global demand.
The first Samsung factory in Vietnam was set up back in 2009. Since then, the manufacturing base has expanded rapidly with multiple production units across Vietnam. Galaxy phones are primarily made at Samsung's Bac Ninh and Thai Nguyen factories in Vietnam.
Samsung just celebrated a major production milestone as the combined phone production at both factories has now crossed 2 billion units since operations began in April 2009. Samsung mobile division boss TM Roh went over to meet with Vietnam's Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and commemorate this special occasion.
Roh also expressed the company's continued willingness to further expand its investments in the country, with other Samsung group companies also doubling down on their reliance on Vietnam as an important manufacturing hub.
Samsung Vietnam has generated $31.6 billion in revenue for the first six months of the year, including $28 billion earned from exports, highlighting the vital importance that Vietnam plays in Samsung being able to meet the global demand for its products.
