There's been plenty of evidence to suggest that Samsung may bring back the Classic smartwatch formula and release the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic at the next Unpacked event. However, a new rumor says that Samsung may also intend to release a sequel to its first Ultra smartwatch this year.
According to this rumor (via Techmaniacs), the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2, or however the sequel to the first Galaxy Watch Ultra will be called, has a similar design to the original. However, it will boast some hardware and software improvements.
The Galaxy Watch Ultra sequel reportedly has more storage and “a new graphical interface,” presumably One UI 7 Watch, which Samsung is already working on.
The rumor goes on to say that the launch of the new Galaxy Watch Ultra won't push the original off the market. Instead, the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 will debut this year for around €699. The original Galaxy Watch Ultra will remain on sale at a lower price of around €400.
The original Ultra debuted in 2024 for €699, but you can already find it at a discount on many regions.
Do take this rumor about a new Ultra model in 2025 with a pinch of salt. As we said earlier, there are a lot of hints pointing at a Galaxy Watch 8 Classic release this year, but we haven't heard much about an Ultra sequel until now.
Samsung doesn't usually release yearly smartwatch sequels. There's normally a gap of at least one year between each model. And if a new Galaxy Watch Ultra goes on sale in 2025, it probably won't look all that different from the 2024 variant, much like this rumor suggests.
The next Unpacked may be held in July in New York. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7, along with the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic, are the main devices expected to be announced at the event.
