According to the recent numbers from market research firm Canalys, Vivo was India's biggest smartphone brand in Q3 2024. The company shipped 9.1 million smartphones during the period and captured a 19% share of the market. Xiaomi ranked second with 7.8 million shipments and a 17% share of the market.
Samsung shipped 7.5 million smartphones in India during Q3 2024 and captured a 16% share of the market. That is a 4% drop in shipments compared to last year. Vivo's shipments increased 26%, while Xiaomi had 3% growth. OPPO, which ranked fourth with 6.3 million shipments, saw a staggering 43% growth compared to Q3 2023.
Realme shipped 5.3 million smartphones in India during the third quarter of 2024, capturing an 11% share of the market. Other brands collectively shipped 11.1 million smartphones with a 24% market share.
Overall, 47.1 million smartphones were shipped in India during Q3 2024, 9% higher than Q3 2023. Despite the overall growth of the market, Samsung failed to capitalize on it despite the launch of the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and the Galaxy Z Fold 6 during the third quarter. Hopefully, the company will see increased sales in Q4 2024 due to the festive season.
