With the official rollout of the Android 13 update for Pixel phones, Google ended the Android 13 beta program in August 2022. In a fresh tidbit shared by Google on the updated Android Beta Program site, we may have the first Android 14 beta update arrive by April 2023. Google has shared information about the forthcoming releases, supported devices, and more on the updated Android Beta Program site.

While there isn't anything concrete to jump upon regarding Android 14, the information shared by Google does reveal some juicy information about Android 14. Apparently, the Android 13 Quarterly Platform Release schedule starts in September with QPR beta 1, which isn't something new and has been known for two weeks. There is no information regarding what we can expect from the Android 13 QPR1 update, but we can expect a stable version in December.

As noted by 9To5Google, we may not see Android 13L this year. However, Google now says it will transition into Android 14 beta sometime in March 2023. This hints that we may see the first Android 14 non-developer preview by April 2023. Also, this means that only two QPR betas should be expected next year rather than the three we saw in 2022. Here are the official words, “Android 13 QPR beta updates continue through March 2023 followed by Android 14 beta releases.

Additionally, the company made it clear that you need to be on a non-Developer Preview public stable build to enroll in the beta program. Google originally planned to continue the Android 13 QPR betas until June 2023. But it is now updated and will run through March 2023. Lastly, Google removed the list of compatible devices from the site. Now, you need to use the “your eligible devices” carousel to check the Pixel phones that are supported.
